Most designers will show you a mood board and ask you to pick. We start somewhere different. We start with getting to know you — how you live, how you move through your home, what you need it to do for you, and what you want to feel when you walk through the door at the end of the day.

The process is collaborative without being complicated. We bring a strong point of view and the expertise to back it up, but we're not here to impose our taste on your life. We're here to understand it well enough that every decision we make feels just right to you.

Getting to know you


Before anything is selected, sourced, or decided, we take the time to understand you. Your lifestyle, your taste, your non-negotiables, and the things you didn't even know you needed until we asked. This is where the vision takes shape.

Building the Vision

Once we understand the project and the people behind it, we develop a full design concept — materials, finishes, layout, and the details that make a space feel considered from every angle. You'll see exactly where it's headed before anything moves forward so nothing is a surprise.

Bringing to Life

This is where planning becomes reality. We manage the entire process — working alongside your contractor, overseeing every detail, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks. You stay informed without being burdened.

The Finishing Touches

A home isn't finished until it feels finished. Furniture, styling, and the final layer of detail that pulls everything together and makes it completely, undeniably yours and barefoot ready.

What to Expect

  • Projects are priced per square foot of active design scope. Every project is different, but as a general rule we work with a minimum of 500 square feet — enough space to do the work justice and deliver a result that's truly cohesive. Reach out and we'll talk through what makes sense for your project.

  • The clients who get the most out of working with us show up for the big decisions, the selections that are truly yours to make, and then trust us to carry the rest. We handle the details, the follow-ups, the moving parts, and the moments you never want to think about. That's what we're here for.

  • Most people don't know their style yet, and that's exactly why they hire us. We're not here to tell you what you want, we're here to help you figure it out. Through conversation, asking the right questions, and a process designed to draw out what you're hoping to feel in your space, we help you find and articulate a vision that's been there all along. That's one of our favorite parts of the job!

  • It depends on the scope. For smaller refreshes, we can handle it without bringing in a contractor. For large-scale renovations or new builds, you'll need an architect and general contractor on board. If you don't have one, we have people we trust and are happy to point you in the right direction.

  • Absolutely. LANG serves the greater Rochester area and the Finger Lakes region, and we're always open to the right project beyond that. If the project is a good fit, geography is rarely a dealbreaker. Tell us about yours.

  • The best client relationships are built on trust, open communication, and a shared commitment to getting it right — once, beautifully, without cutting corners.
